A little while ago I came across the charity Share the Dignity after hearing about it on a Mia Freedman podcast. It was really sad to learn about the plight of women who experience domestic violence as well as the many homeless women living in Australia today. It was eye-opening to realise just how much … Continue reading Share the Dignity

It’s been a rough night…
It's been a rough night. Just ask Lex. He's not happy. In fact, he's raging... Why? We are babysitting my beautiful cat Chelsea whilst my parents are off exploring Europe! I'm completely happy with this idea as is Chelsea. Although one thing that really annoys Chelsea is when Lex tries to sleep instead of playing … Continue reading It’s been a rough night…
The Best (and Worst) Eco-Friendly Yoga Mats
A lot of students at Bloomington Power Yoga have been asking me to recommend a good yoga mat. I have some difficulty making a recommendation because it’s not exactly clear what makes for a good yoga mat. Probably the criteria will vary from person to person, but one thing that has come up a lot is that people want to practice on an eco-friendly mat. Those stinky, toxic, PVC-laden mats from the local sporting goods store are a big no-no for most serious yogis, so I’m going to restrict my recommendations here to eco-friendly mats.
Quite a few companies offer eco-friendly mats these days. I’ve practiced on a number of them over the years, and I thought I’d compile a review of all of the ones I’ve tried in one, easy-to-read guide. Of course, the views expressed here are just the opinion of one yogi, and my assessment should be…

Why I’m currently obsessed with podcasts
In preparation of a long flight (cons of living in the land down under), I downloaded a whole bunch of podcasts. I wasn't sure I was even going to listen to them, but thought they might be good to have just in case the entertainment selection on board wasn't good. As it turned out there … Continue reading Why I’m currently obsessed with podcasts

Pomegranate and Lemon Couscous
It’s difficult to know for sure, but the warmth of summer must surely be just around the corner. And, well, even if it isn’t, there’s a certain purity to be enjoyed when tucking into a light, yet surprisingly hearty, couscous dish such as this. Pomegranate, perhaps to my detriment, isn’t an ingredient I’ve experimented with… via … Continue reading Pomegranate and Lemon Couscous
Everything is a miracle
There are only two ways to live your life. One is as though nothing is a miracle. The other is as though everything is a miracle. source: Albert Einstein image: Eddie’s Garden, Eddie’s Photos, Gardenia Flowers May 2015 via Everything is a Miracle — Eddie Two Hawks
A wonderful way to end your day….
“An evening meditation could be as simple as
quietly remembering something good from your day or your life –
even something as basic as a smile from a stranger,
a piece of fresh fruit or a soft pillow.
Remembering and feeling grateful is a wonderful way to end your day….”
